Stop giving Dropbox / Google / Apple all your dosh, by keeping your cloud data backups on-shore, where it is blazingly fast and local in Auckland, NZ.

After you choose a folder on your computer, backups are automatic

Requires the install of a free open-source tool called SyncThing on your Mac, Windows or Linux, Android, iOS.

You can set a bandwidth limit, and run it when you like. After the initial upload, it will constantly upload updates intelligently when it notices changed files.

Schedule it to run whenever you like (hourly, daily, monthly) to cause your machine to synchronise the folder you pick.

I am planning to have a button you can press to trigger the archiving at my end but for now it is automatic: the snapshot activates as soon as you have uploaded 500 GB so far or you haven’t uploaded this much and it is halfway through the year – this is when the 1 year timer starts, and the virtual squashfs disc is cut, and sent to tape in the cloud magically. It would expire 1.5 years after the start in the latter case, usually replaced by an updated folder snapshot if the folder has not changed much. Uploads are resumable so if you have to stop once your squashfs disc starts burning it can be resumed later.

The disc burning can be resumed later and added to over time..

Your upload will be blazingly fast directly to a data warehouse in Avondale in Auckland NZ. Tape archives are backed by Amazon Glacier deep archive in Sydney. There is a $50 fee to recover from deep archives; this is actually a good thing because it makes the archive stronger in the face of Cyber-attack and forms part of the “Air gapping” in case your own network is comprised it will not be capable to damaging this copy.

Suitable for documents such as users home folder, currently I am planning tests to certify I can do Time Machine.

Add a Mac or Windows 24/7 human-led intrusion detection endpoint for only $30 NZD/month (NZ only currently, POA global pricing)

Uploads to either TCorp in Avondale, Auckland or any Amazon S3 compatible object storage service.

Includes Proxmox, Open Media Vault, Syncthing, Nextcloud. TimeMachine Time Capsule server, version 0.1-beta of Percussion IS web-app. The primary purpose is a large button to do on-demand “Burn Disc/Write to Tape” the current snapshot an immutable bootable “recovery disc” based on your archive. Over time, the disk eventually makes it way up to Glacier Deep Archive from $11.40 per TB per year for $0.114 per GB to Sydney, Australia.

$200 recovery fee covers currently manual air-gapped

* it is planned that version 1.0 will enable one-click archival to Amazon Deep Glacier write-once, read hopefully never LTO Tape Library, v1.2 including searchable index, and manual restore process equivalent to an “air-gapped” tamper-proof off-site backup.

Probably will supports Apple macOS TimeMachine, I just need to test it through a VPN. Call me if you really need this and I will check and send you a test account.
